Tigers Roar: Celebrating Cricket Tasmania's 150th anniversary | Hardback
By Michael Gandy, Ric Finlay & Rick Smith
On February 1, 1866, a group of cricket enthusiasts formed an organisation they called the Southern Tasmanian Cricket Association. Their desire to improve the game and make it available to all has remained a driving force for those involved with cricket in Tasmania over its 150-year history.
Told through the words of the island’s leading cricket historians and containing more than 300 images, this is a tale of dedicated individuals who, as players and administrators, battled the odds to ensure Tasmania gained respect as a force in the game. The fruits of that work are Tasmania’s success in various competitions, in the growth of the game, particularly women’s cricket, the successful staging of international cricket in Tasmania, and in the provision of players and coaches for national teams.
Tasmania punches well above its weight in the game of cricket. Tigers Roar is the story of how this has come about.
